Torch 9800: Wallpaper Popup

Supported Device(s):  Torch 9800

Overview:  Do you like viewing and showing off your wallpapers?  Perhaps featuring pictures taken yourself using the Torch's camera?  But want to do that while still having everything available right at your fingertips? If yes then this is the theme for you.

All that you initially see on your homescreen is a tiny banner and nothing else, nothing to get in the way of your wallpapers.

But if you touch anywhere on the top quarter of the screen a box instantly pops up showing:
  • Profiles (note: Profiles must be set to be the first icon in the 3rd row of your main All Applications list)
  • Clock
  • Options
  • Manage connections

Also if you touch anywhere in the middle half of your screen you get:
  • A 2 row popup featuring your 8 favourite icons

Thats not all, when you click anywhere in the bottom quarter of the screen you get a pop up featuring:
  • Messages
  • Text Messages (SMS/MMS)
  • BBM
  • Browser

You can leave any 1, 2, or 3 of those popups on your screen for as long as you want, but as soon as you are done with them simply hit Escape and they dissappear again leaving your homescreen clear and uncluttered.

And there is still more.  You'd rather use your keyboard than touch your screen?  No problem:
  • Hit the spacebar and Messages opens up
  • Hit 0 (Zero) and the Calculator opens
  • Hit $ (the key with the Speaker icon in it) and Profiles opens up
You are probably thinking but what about viewing my upcoming appointments right from my homescreen?  No problem that is taken care of as well.  Simply rotate your phone left or right and you will be shown your next 9 upcoming appointments

So all together that is 20 applications and 9 appointments that can be viewed and selected right from your completely clear and uncluttered homescreen  :)

Hi,

FYI,

When you search, the results, the Icons look transparent on white background, not good.

Thanks,

I believe the THEME needs more Testing. It could be a very nice theme.

@Anonymous,

To see your network name simply hit the Manage Connections icon. It was designed this way to keep the banner as small and simple as possible.

The white background for search results is a limitation of Theme Builder. All custom non-OS6 style themes are like this. There is currently no way to change it.

Hi,

Thanks, for the quick response, what about the BIS Icon when connected no a wi-fi network, will you updated the search background color If the application ever allows for it.

Thanks, AMS

@AMS,

The BIS icon not being visible when connected to a WiFi network is also a Theme Builder limitation (and again all themes are like this). Yes I will be updating the theme if and when Theme Builder is updated.

Well, I guess the is a "BETA" theme builder hopefully there are aware of all limitations and they would fix it.

Thanks, AMS

@AMS,

Yes, it Definitely is a Beta build, it is quite buggy, but the early build of 5.0 was just as bad, so give it some time and RIM will fix it.

Anyways, if those 2 issues are really bugging you here is some workarounds:

-For the search background, launch search by clicking the Search app intead of just typing and you get a grey background.

-For the BIS icon while on WiFi, click on the Browser and it will show your BIS icon.

Great, for the BIS icon also if you lunch the phone it works, well I like your theme you did a great job, I let you know If I run into other issues being Theme Builder related or bugs. AMS

Oh, Also you probably have notice that the Theme Builder adds six extra Icons, on the "ALL" windows (Music,Pictures,Videos, Wi-Fi Setup, Old Search, Search).

One last thing, maybe as design but the blue screen of the calendar has a white halo in the middle. AMS

Hi,

No "notification icon" on top of Messages, BBM, or Text icons at the Home screen If you look at the ALL screen you see them there.

Thanks

My bb torch doesnt have the service books yet, service in Aruba isn't so great smh.

sorry if this is dumb! =X

Sorry no, it is OTA only.

I have tried the OTA multiple times. It asks if I want to "Download", goes through the download, and then says it failed. The details refer to a bad cod file. Can anyone confirm that OTA is working right now?

Is it possible to remove/change any of the icons of the bottom 4? I use CrunchSMS app to text Other friends also get their text in the mailbox and don't use this icon either. I would like to exchange the text icon for another icon. Is this possible? Thank you, I like the simplicity of this theme!
